The Canyon Lights

07 December 2011 | By brad-kism in Uncategorized | No Comments Yet

The Capilano suspension bridge is something I have always wanted to do but for whatever reason, haven’t yet! Not because I’m scared, I guess I always thought ….ah well I’ll do it someday…afterall it’s been there for over 100 years! Family members and friends have raved about it for decades. My wife did it a couple times in her 20’s but now after kids she says it would freak her out! One time my wife Heather froze up in the middle of the bridge and couldn’t go any further for a good while haha….eventually she made it to the other side. Now the motivation has hit me to check it out. From now until January 1st they have a promotion called “canyon lights” where each night the canyon is illuminated with millions of lights. A must see! Join the B&J show wednesday 12/07 @ 8:15 as we talk with Stacy from the Capilano suspension bridge for all the details and free passes too! Until then check out their website. click here

Surfer rides world record wave!

09 November 2011 | By brad-kism in Uncategorized | No Comments Yet

Somewhere off the coast of Portugal there was some monster wave action going on and instead of watching from a distance and admiring the awesome power of the sea, one guy had the stones to grab his board! The 90 foot wave he caught was determined to be a world record! It only lasts 25 seconds but it’s pretty epic none the less! Check it out, click here

LeBron James as a Seahawk?

12 October 2011 | By brad-kism in Uncategorized | No Comments Yet

Over the last couple days the twitter machine was all cranked up with tweets between NBA superstar LeBron James, ESPN football reporter John Clayton and finally Seahawks coach Pete Carroll. Seems Bron Bron wants something to do during the NBA lockout…maybe fire up the football career he abandoned in high school? It even went as far as coach Carroll having a “King James” jersey drawn up. Pearl Jam in Vancouver 9/25

26 September 2011 | By brad-kism in Uncategorized | No Comments Yet

Sunday night 9/25 I saw Pearl Jam in Vancouver at the pacific coliseum. They were outstanding! Masters of their craft. That feels good to say because for one reason or another the other times I had seen them I went away saying yeah…but….?? Something didn’t click. I either had bad seats, the sound was muddy, I was messed up or the setlist they played didnt match up with what I wanted to hear. One time they were set to play an MTV new years eve special on a pier in Seattle, it was supposed to be the Cranberries, Cypress Hill, Nirvana and PJ. Eddie Vedder got stuck in Mexico and didnt make it so Nirvana stole the show. Great memory with Nirvana but a bummer for the PJ fans. Then there was a period of time where I was in Alaska,  musical tastes changed and kids came along so we didn’t get out much….Fast forward to 2 years ago when PJ played 2 shows in Seattle on the “backspacer” tour. My friend Keith went the first night and the setlist was packed with hits/ popular tunes ect so I was stoked to see that the next night and the set changed and alot of the music was unfamiliar to a guy that has been out of touch with them for a few years. I was bummed. I since got the backspacer cd and it has grown to be one of my absolute favorites and I craved another chance to see them perform. I wanted to have a good seat, be sober and take it all in with a new hope and appreciation for the band. They did not disappoint!!! Sunday night I got my chance. It was a sold out show and I went up without a ticket but I worked the crowd, stayed patient and found a great seat that one of the “10 club” members from Seattle sold me. It was the last night on the tour and it was very special. The band was having fun jumping around, laughing and prompting the crowd to get involved and participate. Lots of smiles and extended jam sessions on songs! They let it all hang out. They had family members and friends there, road crew members had birthdays complete with cake and singing, band members trading instruments, guest musicians on stage and a general party feel. It was a dream come true after 20 years. They absolutely proved why they are where they are and every single person in the crowd knew something special wasd taking place. Mike McCready was on FIRE! He shredded the Les Pauls and Strats on numerous songs …a real highlight. Eddie Vedder is amazing at working a crowd into a frenzy and the Stone, Jeff and Matt were rock solid all night. They came on at 8:50 and played until 11:30 and I loved every second of it. Hope they are not gone for too long and they add a Seattle show over the holidays…..until then check out this killer setlist from Vancouver on sunday night…..DONT MISS THEM NEXT TIME!!!!
